Whats a good stress test to test my new video card in W7 64?

ati tool is from 2006 and furmark doesn't show compatibility with W7...

FurMark hot-as-hell test runs under Win7

PLAY games at high resolution with maxed details; that is the *best* way to test your new video card :)

so you have used furmark under w7 64?

edit: so i've just installed furmark v1.8 and it does run in W7 64. I'm doing the stability test now and how am i supposed to know if my GPU OC is stable or not?

You need to download and install directX 9 runtime. Not sure why but it'll work

if it survives the test, it is probably thermally stable :p
(check to see if your GPU throttles and what the max temp is)

Just don't be stupid and run furmak for hours. If it survives 15 minutes of that it will never ever crash in a real game.

what do u mean by survive the test? if my computer doesn't crash its good? if the temps are under 100C (GPU) then i'm good?

It doesn't tell me if its artifacting or if my GPU is instable?

If it gets too hot, you will probably see artifacting or your PC will crash - or the GPU will throttle. i think some of the 4000 series had real issues with this test so that AMD put a clock limiter into the drivers so it would not overheat while running FurMark (and damage the card)

FurMark is just a thermal stability test. If you make it through the "hot as hell" test, you will know your video card is stable (heat-wise) in ANY PC game.

are you guys running furmark with the Xtreme Burn Mode? and in 1280x1024?
i'm testing right now with these settings^^ and i'm hovering at 75c max on the GPU. Its been about 10 minutes. Am i clear to push the OC farther?

find your max oc first

then stress test it

it's easier to find the max and then go down to find absolute stability

are you doing any voltage adjustment?

nope, no voltage, just OCing with ATI Overdrive in CCC.

i'm currently testing at 900mhz Core, 1250 Ram.

What do you mean by find max first? should i set it at 1100core then go down from there?

Find "CCC stable" - let it find the OC for you
-then test it up ... if necessary go down

When you think it is as far as it can go, THEN stress test it and adjust as necessary

This is the way i do it when i need to find my max OC

Also, get Heaven 2.0 and set it to max quality for you resolution, then go to bed and let it loop.

If it's not stable it'll crash, BSOD, or VPU recover.

upon reinstalling OCCT w/ my 5770, i get this error:

"your Graphics card doesn't support CUDA. You need a Geforce8 or higher. GPU Memtest will be disabled."

Does OCCT GPU test only work wth NV?

I really like W1zzard's GPUTool. It has error detection and puts about the load of a demanding game on my card. You can download GPUTool from Techpowerup.

GPUmemtest runs under CUDA but the normal gpu stress test should run fine.
