In just over 1 year the heatsink fan/heatsink on my Chaintech GF4 ti4200 has died now. they replaced the first one for free but it just died again. im not going to go through the process of replacing the heatsink twice a year until i upgrade so I am in the market for something to replace it with.

So if anyone has any suggestions i will look at anything. i am guessing the chances of being able to use the same heatsink on a future card are slim to none but if the possibility exists it would be a plus.

The second heatsink you linked to is RIDICULOUSLY loud. The first will probably be able to passively cool the card provided you have decent case airflow. I'm running a slightly underclocked Ti4600 with an old (now fanless) AMD K6-2 heatsink, but with a case fan blowing on it and it is perfectly stable.

I have one of those Tt GF4 coolers, bought it years ago, the fan noise dropped dramatically after lubing the fan bearing with a bit of fresh 10W-30 motor oil. Drop the fan down to 7 volts along with the above and it's pretty much silent.

hmmm ill keep that in mind. new developments may have rendered this thread useless tho as i may have to simply replace the entire card :(
