Aight, I have a set of 2.1 speakers (Altec Lansing ATP3's). I'm looking for a good replacement for these speakers under $100. Any suggestions??

I really don't have space to put speakers behind my computer seating location, just in front of me. So would going with a quad arrangement be unnecessary for me??

4.1 setup = a waste for me so far.

I bought a set of z560's, but so far have been unable to get them into a true home theatre surround sound position. Basically how I have it now is the 2 rear speakers hit me from 90 degrees on each side. Totally a waste imo.

Altec has some real eye poppers out now. Someone posted a linky to newegg for a 4.1 set that was a real looker (dunno about specs though). $101, not bad really if they perform decently.

ATP3's are pretty nice. What are you looking for in the new ones? My fav 2.1's are still the old Altec Lansing ACS48's. Those things some kicked some major @ss. I still have the Microsoft DSS80's (remember them?). Still pretty happy with them.

I have them on my second machine. For the $25 or so I paid for them, I have found nothing better.

i would just suggest a 2.1 setup unless you want the surround sound. anything under 100 bucks is just up to par. if you are willing to go over then there are some good setups to look at.

I got the Logitech Z540 4.1 speakers for $57 shipped from buy.com. They're a pretty nice upgrade from my Altec Lansing ACS44 speakers. I'm glad these Logitechs don't emit a loud hissing noice when turned on like my Altec Lansings. :)
