For the average person, including most kids, clear plastic cases should be avoided - they should be considered for store display or exhibit use at shows only. The clear cases lag in several areas that should be considered necessities for home use - they generally don't cool well, are noisy, and they have little or no RFI/EMI prevention/rejection (so besides all their other drawbacks, clear cases are environmentally irresponsible - just a few years ago when the FCC was still actively watching computer components, they would have not been available to individuals in the U.S.). A moderately sized, side-window is all I'd recommend if anything. In fact, it is a good teaching opportunity on the ability to reject useless features. A nice steel case is still the best on balance. I would try to steer her in the direction of something like the Silverstone Mini-Berserker as an object lesson in form-follows-function (on Gameve.com for an absurdly low price).
. They recently reviewed a Logisys clear model over on the AT side. Check it out.
