Need good QUIET cooling

My box is about 7 feet away from me when I sleep, and well.. right now, I'd like to think that the ocean is outside my window. I want to make the thing more quiet. I have my power supply fan (new power supply with a very quiet fan), I have an case cooling 80mm intake fan, and I have a dual fan heatsink on my p3 slot 1 cpu.

What's the best solution to quiet cooling in general?
What's the most affordable solution?
What are the lowest decibel levels for cpu and case cooling fans?

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Hi m00...

Dunno where you live, but if you're from Europe like me, then check out www.webconsult.dk

It's a Danish & Swedish site, but the numbers speak for themselves, a cooler capable of moving ~100 Watts from your cpu@13dB is pretty f...... amazing! (Silverado 50)

DanishGuy Do you have the Silverado yourself? I have been wondering wether to buy it or not, so i'd like to have some input about it. Haven't been able to find any tests of it. I want it quiet but, i also have a fan on my GF2.

BTW: I'm from the DK myself. Og dette må være beviset 😉

I installed a fanbus in my custom enlight case. I have a 120mm fan sucking in the front, 80mm blowhole in the top above PEP66 plus fan, 80mm fan in the rear of case above PCI/AGP cards and power supply fan. In all 5 pretty good size fans and 1 small fan on the video card all attached to a fanbus. I made my fanbus myself which reduces the current going to the fans from 12VDC to 7VDC and put each of the larger fans on a switch. When I flip the switch the noise level goes from sounding like a jet taking off to almost no noise at all. If interested you can find information located at Cliffs FanBus
This is very cheap solution as all you need is a couple of switches and some wire. My cost for 3 switches and wire was about $2US.
