I bought the Microcenter deal X2 555 BE and a Gigabyte GAMA78lm-s2h but after i unlock the cores it won't boot into windows and errors out. (I understand it could just be the chip)

**edit**
just ran cpu-z and it state the NB(chipset) is a 780G not 760 as needed and stated on the manufacturers box

Chipset - 780G (not 760G as advertised)
SB - ID439D

Stock vcpu - 1.4v

So what can everyone recommend?

Then I doubt a new motherboard is going to help. If the chip unlocked, but crashed, that means that your additional cores are not good. Try disabling both cores, and then enable one at a time, and see which ones crash.

Could it also be that i'm not running the correct chipset required to unlock?

It's not the chipset. Manufacturers implement ACC in their BIOS. I think it probably is just your chip. People buy X2's thinking they can guaranteed unlock to X4, but many times, the cores are turned off for a reason.

as is the case for me, hmm maybe i'll ask a nice microcenter sales person to let me check the batch numbers against known good batches....
