need good (free) hardware test/benchmark program

I am looking for a program that will put hardrives, floppies and cdroms through their paces.

I have a stack of parts that I am turning into machines to donate and give away, but the parts are all used and I want to give them a thurough test before I give them away.

I would also like to see which parts are faster so that I can use those on the machines and the rest will just be given as backup parts.

Sisoft sandra has some built in tests for cd-roms floppy's and hdd.

Go to cnet and do a search for Sandra and download sisoft sandra 2001.

You should be able to get a free demo of SISoft Sandra 2000 from www.download.com. It is a limited version that allows you to use it's best features.

If you're looking to benchmark hard drives, you may want to look at HD Tach in addition to, or in place of, SiSoft Sandra.
