I need some game suggestions to play together with my g/f. I got her to play torchlight which she seems to like but that is single player only. What are some multi player games we could play together? She doesn't like FPS's at all.

What does she like? Diablo 2, Titans Quest, Magicka come to mind.

I have a similar situation and play with a casual group that is two guys/two girls.

Minecraft is the obvious place to start but it depends on how much of it you can tolerate. My group wanted to play on the no monster setting and after a session of doing nothing but building a tree house I was pretty bored.

Magicka is too difficult for casual gamers. I like it, but there is friendly fire and we quickly dropped this game after the more casual members announced how much they hated it.

Titans Quest was received pretty well and it's cheap. Dawn of War 2 is also a good option if you play 2v2 against each other (or 4 v 4 vs. the computer if super casual).

Left 4 Dead and Borderlands were both huge hits with my casual gaming group and may be worth a look despite the FPS nature, since the people in my group would qualify as disliking the FPS genre in general. The horror elements of L4D generated a lot of excitement and I think not being particularly good at the game gave it a sense of realism. These may not be as fun with just two, however.

If money isn't a major factor then I would actually recommend a recent MMO. They've gotten really easy and are quite fun for players new to the genre. We did Rift for a while and while the group only got up to about level 25 but everybody had a good time. SW:ToR would probably be my pick along this line as with companions the two of you would be able to handle 95% of the content easily as long as you personally know what you are doing.

There are also some pretty good console games out there if you are playing together. Pass the controller style gaming is still fun and she would probably like the Uncharted series a lot (even if you play most of the time). Other candidates along these lines would be stuff like Red Dead Redemption, Heavy Rain, or Bioware stuff (mass effect, dragon age).

I'd put a vote in for wow definitely.

Trying to think of what my gf and I play together a lot...

League of Legends? its free, and if you play against computers at least to start you can kind of learn at your own pace.

We love playing rise of nations together...be the same nation and have one person do economy and the other do military.

Diablo 2 definitely

How about an old school game on an emulator? We love playing Secret of Mana (on an actual SNES baby) and streets of rage remake.

Along the wow lines is Lord of the rings online if you don't want to pay monthly, quick to get into if you want.

How about Lego star wars and some of those other games? Despite sounding like little kid games, theyre tons of fun.

id head over to http://www.co-optimus.com/ and check out some of their co-op games.

I would like to add Guild Wars to the list of games being recommended.

2 people are able to do all the stuff in the game once they understand the game, without the need to be involved with other players if you choose not to. There is loads of exploration and customization.

It is also decently cheap.

How about something like Secret of Monkey Island? Solving puzzles together and laughing while you progress through the game.

Osmos
Puzzle Quest
Worms
Rollercoaster Tycoon
Portal 2 - It's in first person yes, but not really a twitch type of game so it's pretty fun playing together.

She doesn't like first person games at all because they make her dizzy and she's not accustomed to it so Portal is out unfortunately. She doesn't have time to get into an MMO either since she is working on her PHD. I'll give Terraria a try, thanks.

Not a multiplayer, but you should try Neighbours from Hell 1&2, my wife likes them a lot.

Another "not a multiplayer" suggestion, but I literally could not pull my gf away from L.A. Noire.

She loves crime shows and mysteries, and she started out just watching me play the first several cases for hours on end, then she gradually started taking over, and that was that.

League of Legends? Though she might break up with you because your noob ass doesn't know how to follow up her pro initiations. :p

It's free at least and since you can play on the same team and work together, it might not be that bad.

The aforementioned Terraria, which I was going to introduce to my GF as well.

Is your GF completely new to gaming or has she played games in the past and you can base your ideas off past games she's liked? I'm guessing yes since you said no FPS.

+1. Adventure games can work pretty well.

Played through the whole of Curse of monkey island with my girlfriend and she enjoyed it. Put it on the HTPC and used a wireless mouse on the couch. I've finished that game at least twice so it didn't get terribly frustrating, mostly just me trying to remember things, but also shutting up and letting her solve some things too.

We got stuck in the HD version of Secret since I've never played that and we haven't gone back to it yet. Also finished Puzzle Agent since it's pretty easy. A really hard adventure game might not be the best, unless you're both really patient, or smart..

Someone in another thread mentioned their GF got addicted to Dungeon Defenders.

So much so, I think he started to lack for attention..........

I know you said she doesnt have time to get into an mmo, but I would suggest the new Star wars mmo regardless.

As long as you 2 are only playing together you can set your own timelimits, and the game plays pretty well in small chunks and is incredibly small group friendly. You each would get a companion...so you 2 + 2 companions = full group and you can take on probably 90% of the content that way. I would like to clarify that im not a swtor homer and not recommending out of bias, but if i ever had to get a girl into a game and i knew she liked torchlight I would try my luck with SWToR.

grats on having a gaming girl, my wife hates my hobby :'(
