Need freeware to monitor internet usage

Can anyone give me a link to a freeware program that will monitor my internet usage through an Ethernet connection?

I am only allowed 5 GB per week of internet usage, and I need to make sure I am not using too much. If I go over, I will get cut off until Sunday at 12:01 am the week I go over.

I have Windows Vista for an operating system.

If your router supports SNMP, you can use something like PRTG to monitor the interface for bandwidth used. It's free for up to 5 interfaces. DD-WRT supports SNMP. Tomato and other 3rd party firmwares probably do as well.

If you just use a single PC most of the time, you can get a PC based solution such as Bandwidth Meter Pro. This software is shareware and I'm not sure if there is a freeware solution available (others will probably suggest free alternatives).
