Need for Video Card

This may be a dumb question but other than for Gaming or Video Editing, does a video card add anything to performance of a computer?

Well, you need some sort of video output, unless you're building a headless server. But if you are comparing onboard video to a discrete card, no, you don't need a discrete card if you aren't gaming, or using GPU computing. Onboard these days is good enough for basically everything else, including some light gaming (CivCity Rome, SimCity4, etc.)

Thanks for the info. I did not know if it improved monitor video picture over the onboard video or not.
