I re-installed it and wow its still one of the best racers out there :)

I really enjoy the factory challenges and overall feel of the game.

With Logitech Force Pro wheel, its just amazing :)

I have few issues tho..

#1 the text looks weird on menu screens.

#2 there is no 1024x768 or greater with 32 bit.. it ends at 800x600 (and some odd number)

hmmmm

PU is one of the top games in the NFS series, and the most underated in my opinion.

The graphics definately look a little dated and it seems to be a little finicky with XP (at least until I installed the unofficial XP patch). But, the gameplay is excellent. I'll say this, though, some of the roadcourses where you race the fellow Porche team members were tough. I remember one in particular where I raced it no telling how many times before I finally won.

*goes off looking for his NFS:pU CD*

There might be a config file entry that you can edit to increase the max res... Or a patch fixed it. It's been so long, I'm not sure..

well, it goes little bit over 1600x1200 in 16 bit, just not in 32 bit :)

I really like the game, you can tell that they spent lot of time on details. It is still better than most racers today because of the details. (you can do turn signals, horn, hazrad, lights, top up or down on convertable models.. etc etc... ).

odd.. with all the new stuff coming out.. I'm going back to *classic games..

top 3 games I've been playing lately..

NFS: PU

Castlevania : Symphony of the night

Minesweeper!!! :D

I loved this game, too.
Unfortunately, I then got Windows 2000, which wouldn't run it.

XP rectified that, but by then I was hooked on the Hot Pursuits, and the resolution thing bothered me as well.

that game won me over by playing it, definately. I was less than optimistic about it when it was released.

I don't blame you. I remember playing the hell out of NFS PU. And, I did just find my CD... Now if only I can find my save files where I had all those cool cars in the garage... :)

OH, did you guys know that they FINALLY cracked the PU code? meaning they are now able to add cars in games that are NOT porsche.

I think they have a viper one out that you can add. didnt try it yet :)

I was actually just thinking about pulling this game out the other day. I remember burning tons of hours on this thing.

Yup, Best of Series.

The 2 Undergrounds have been decent, HP2 had so much potential.

I wish they make another one just like the PU.
Not just again with another underground series.

This is definitely the best NFS game IMO. I remember getting stuck in the Test Driver game where you had to do a donut in some prototype racing sports car - I just could not get that thing to slide.

Very good game. About the only game worth breaking out my wheel on. It always ran fine for me in XP as well as Win 2k, and I believe I play at 1360x1024x32 but you may be right about the 16bit color, I'm not totally sure.

Oh hell yeah best NFS ever! I recently got into NFS:Underground and Underground 2. Getting all flashy and crappy visual "upgrades" is not as fun somehow. Oh man I may have to get the CD out now....
