8/10 , but this guy doesnt seem terribly critical or thorough.

General consensus is its a large but boring open world with unimpressive racing and too much grinding. Looks like its mostly aimed at F&F fanboys and lovers of the franchise. Everyone else should pass until its on sale.

I was looking at this game as well the Need for Speed games are fun to play after tons of "realistic" racing games. I guess I'll skip it.

the only one I've liked so far is the second Most Wanted. And it gets tiresome pretty fast. I can only do maybe two races at a time until boredom sets in.

Come to think of it, once I played GT6 I found I preferred games closer to the simulator level. In fact it looks like I'll be done with Forza 6 pretty soon.

Last enjoyable NFS game was the original MW, and that was meh. The rebooted NFW from ghost was pretty meh. I wish they would redo the Underground versions. I know the reboot attempted to but fell flat.

Need For Speed has been complete and utter shit for ages now. It's so bad they remade Most Wanted and tried to act like it was a new game. They didn't even say it was a remake or anything, they just advertised it as if it's a new game and premise. As @Oyeve mentioned, the last good one was a launch title for Xbox 360. That game came out November 2005. That's 12 years of not having even a decent racing game.

EA is probably the worst publisher right now with Ubisoft not far behind them. All the stuff they touch these days turns into a dumpster fire.

I was really surprised how bug free South Park was considering it's Ubisoft. I was surprised in general with the quality of that game being Ubisoft lol.

You know what amazes me about the critic reviews for NFS Payback is that a lot of them completely SHRED the game and then give it 7 out of 10. I'm like, a game this bad does not deserve 7 out of 10, it deserves a 3 out of 10. It just shows me how worthless critic reviews are - they aren't really critical, they can't be too critical because otherwise they get no money from advertising.

Anyway, I loved NFS:U and NFS:U2. NFS:MW (the first one) was good, although I preferred NFS:U2. I would never ask them to remake any of those games (again) because I honestly don't think they are capable of doing a decent job. Now that everything needs to be microtransactionified, it all comes out resembling what I produce after eating a hot curry and washing it down with some prunes.

They have become so focused on profits that they make the games just good enough to sell microtransactions. Everything else is secondary.

haven't enjoyed a NFS game since the reboot of Hot Pursuit, but that was done by Criterion (Burnout series dev) iirc in like 2010

Criterion did the reboot of Most Wanted also but I didn't like that installment as much. Rivals was just super annoying.

That might be related to how Ubisoft just bought the rights to the South Park game franchise after THQ went bankrupt. Although, that was during The Stick of Truth's development. Maybe they've just kept sort of hands-off since that point.

Most people just look at the score and don't read the review. There's always been a rumor floating around that EA and a couple other publishers pay to keep review scores favorable even if the actual review seems more critical than the score indicates.
