There is usually workarounds or hacks from WidescreenGamingForum.com. They even have a working one for BF2 but PunkBuster detects it as a cheat, but for a NFS game you can probably use a workaround without any problems. Then again, if it is done like the +szx +szy is for BF2, then you actually lose overall viewing area, because it crops a large resolution image, rather than dynamically adjusting the FOV to the resolution's aspect ratio.
I usually just use a 4:3 resolution and don't scale it on my 2005FPW, because a stretched image kinda sucks.
