Local guy here wants to sell a slightly used Samsung 2343BW monitor. I guess this monitor is typically used for video or design work since it's native res is 2048x1152. Does anyone here have any experience with gaming on this res? This monitor?

I had a 2343BWX myself, and It made my desktop a little cleaner. Gaming on it got 5-10% lower FPS than 1080p, which was not noticeable.

thanks for the input. Was it on the GPU that's in your sig? I'm on a Radeon 6850 and my current monitor is 1600x1200, so I figure to get a 5-10% performance hit.

It was on the 5850 on #1 in my SIG. Going from 16x12, you'll take a ~20% loss.

Edit: A 6850 is a generally slower than a 5850. I found Metro 2033 and a Arma-II to lag badly on a 5850. CIV-V was fine, as were Far Cry 2 and most other games.

well now I'm not sure what to do. I was going to get a 1080p setup, but would prefer 19x12. Then this offer came up...decisions decisions!

Just turn down a few settings; it's quite a nice work monitor, with decent viewing angles for a TN panel.

Well I made the deal! monitor is in great shape, has some light scuff marks on the stand but the screen is like new. Very impressed with the picture and was amazed at how much more real estate I now have on my desktop

I too had a 2343BWX, it was my first LCD from a 19in tube and loved it. I now have a P2770, the Res is lower yes but couldn't be happier as my eyes are getting older;)

I'm lazy and haven't updated CPU-Z in some time but system graphics card is now a Radeon HD5850 if that helps.

I'm writing this from a 2343, I like it quite a bit. I'd go for it. My gaming computer has a Dell U2410, but that's not exactly the same price range.
