Which one is better and what components should be changed, the user for this machine is a friend who is a pretty serious gamer. I was going to go with a 9800PRO but the prices is just ..... very high ... and if the difference between the 9600pro and the 9800 pro isn't THAT important then I'd rather keep it at the 9600PRO. The budget it 1000? (prices must be from SPAIN including 16% IVA (VAT). I put these together in less than 10 min so i'm not sure if all the components are the best available. Just need some feedback. thanks

Actually I think the difference between the 9600 Pro and the 9800 pro is that important especially considering the 9800 pro can be purchased for around $200 which can't be much more than the 9600 Pro

If all he does is game and use windows for MS office and other non-mathematical intensive programs, get the AMD set up with a 9800 pro. The only reason why I say that is simply because the 3.0 is more expensive yet the AMD set up would be just as good in gaming performance.

Ok, the lowest price I can get for a 9800 PRO here is: 350? ... (including TAX) whilst I can get the 9600 PRO for 140? ,...

Yeah, get the 9600p lol. I'm guessing the 9700 pro in your location would be around the same price as the 9800p by chance? Because that really is a lot of ? !

How HUGE is the performace difference he'll see in games ?

In DX9, a lot If you want to save a bit, you don't need the floppy. Also, unless you will overclock, you don't need a third-party cooler. If you do o/c, you need better RAM. If you want to save a little, you don't need a floppy drive anymore. Also, I would get the Abit AN7 instead of the Asus (for the AMD).

My friend, who was about to purchase a <shutters> PACKARD BELL </shutters> will not part from his loved floppy drive :-(

I was going to put in the zalman because it's so darn quiet.

Ok, but I would drop it (I know a few like your friend, though). And its also value or extras (in this case sound). I usually take value, I can live through volume (and also, my music would drown it out)
