Hi ppls,

I feel like a ping pong, I am going to get an e6750 cpu, and I've been reading reviews all afternoon which motherboard I should get if it is the Asus or the gigabyte.

Basically I just want a robust system for gaming, however I never done overclocking in my life and if I could do without it its better, but I guess nowadays thats inevitable right ?

the ds3r is cheaper, but its not really the money that concerns me ... i just want to make the right choice

your help is appreciated in advance

ManOnFire,

I bought the P5K-E but did look at the Gigabyte board. I've been very happy with my choice, but I think either board is a good buy.

I don't over clock, but the P5K-E has a good BIOS for doing that if you want, excerpt the FSB is set at 333 and can't be changed.

With the P5K, I have 2 eSATA ports on the back plane, which I don't believe the Gigabyte has... you can add eSATA brackets to the Gigabyte, but you won't get hot swap with the brackets like you will with the native eSATA ports. Shortcoming, the P5K doesn't have a PS2 mouse port, so you'd need to use a USB mouse if you get it. It does have the PS2 keyboard port, though. EDIT, it only has a single LAN port, also, probably a consequence of the wireless it has (which I don't use).

Don't know if that helps, but anyhow, good luck with your choice,

Noel

You should be able to get Esata hot-plug, as long as you install the right drivers for the SATA controller, and plug the esata bracket into those controllers. I think that the Intel controller with AHCI should do it.
I like the DS3R myself, have two of them. Very happy with them.

DS3R is a very good board, P5K-E is a very good board.

Overall imo right now ASUS's bios support is a bit more robust and easy to understand than Gigabyte.

If you are not overclocking it is basically 6 of 1 and half-dozen of the other.
