I've just upgraded from my old p3 to a new spanking p4@2.6.
Along with...
Asus P4C800E deluxe
160Gig WD IDE hard drive
512 ram single....and blah blah blah
Now I'm totally new to this RAID thingy, I've connected my HD to the primary IDE, when i booted up...its extremely slow on the bios screen??? seems to be forever Checking NVRAM...then it goes to some PromiseRaid or fastrak check which seems to be looking for something...then comes back saying no devices found...Bios not installed???
Call me dumb but I have no idea what the heck that was all about...anyway, I sense that since I'm not using RAID, I should turn Promise Raid off in the bios settings rite??
ANyway, when it does finally get around booting up, before the WINDOWS XP loading up screen appears...i get this pause on a black dos screena with a blinking cursor....
Now...in windows...I've installed the INF drivers thats on the CD...somehow in device manager its deemed my IDE controller to 82801EB....when I go to updated the drivers using Intel Application Accelerator...it says I've got incompatiable hardware....looking into readme, requirements are Pentium4(which i've got) and Intel 82801ER chipset?? huh???
I cant update using Intel AA Raid edition or the normal Intel AA...both are saying I've got incompatiable hardware??
Whats going on? can someone pls update me on it all as I've got no idea on the whole pentium 4 and raid business!!! Can I not run this board on normal IDE drives??
