Need easy-to-use DVD ripping and burning

I just bought a VCR/DVDR to convert my home movies from VHS to DVD. Now that I have some DVDs burned, I want to make a compilation of little clips from them. (I'm making a DVD for my engagement party, and I'd like to include clips from both of our childhoods. This includes graduations, school plays, etc.) What's an easy way to import and export DVD movies in order to splice together short little clips?

If I have a bunch of clips recorded in a single VOB file (since they're short), VOB2MPG seems to only want to rip the first one. It seems that I'll have to re-record them from VHS to only put one movie on a DVD, but I'm running short on time. The party is Friday.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

As I mentioned... the usual DVD backup methods don't seem to work very well. There's no country encoding to decrypt, and the length is unusually short.

Two possible ways,

DVD Decrypter, using IFO method to rip the movies you want. This method depends on the structure of the dvd.

You can edit the VOB file in VirtualdubMod, and cut out the scenes you want.
