IMO, if you want something loud go with kicker 12" or 15" L7 DVC's. they only sound good in a large ported box so... hope you don't haul things back there. I would personally go with two 15"'s and a kicker XS100 amp dropped to 1ohm and you've got about 1200 watts going to those subs. Depending on how it is set up that could be a competition system there, and would deffinatly be able to herd from far away.

as a matter fact that law is not only grandfathered, but the local cops occationaly come to the parking lots next to the movie theatre or next to a housing development on friday nights for the weekly systems competitions and enjoy the loud music and make sure nobody trys to kill anyone for their systems.

oh yeah, and loud subs wont harm your hearing, low tones dont make you deaf, the high tones do. as long as he doesnt take his 6x9's or whatever he has not too loud he wont have to worry. all the electric guitarists are now near deaf, but the bassists and the drummers are fine and dandy. That, plus the fact that bose engineers did a study of it in combination with the science department at one of those ivy league colleges makes it pretty safe to assume he shoudl be ok.

The w7, by the way is a SQ speaker. here's a link to a jl rep who was talking on termpro bout it....smart JL dude you get the picture form what he says, but it might not be worth it for the w7's. Remember at the start of the post he said he had 1000? that's 1 sub and a tiny amp right there, b/c i've seen them retail here for 700 at the cheapest! go with some kicker L7's and some nice power, but go with a ported box.
