Right now I have two eVGA 7800GT's and I plan to use the step-up promotion to get some superclocked 7900GT's. The problem is that I have absolutely EVERYTHING that came with the cards (even the eVGA stickers), but I have lost one of the DVI to VGA adapters.

I read on the eVGA site that if you don't have everything that came with the card then you will be charged a 15% restocking fee. On a 300 dollar card that comes out to 45 bucks. I don't assume that I can just throw any old DVI-VGA adapter in the box and avoid the restocking fee so the only way I see to get around paying 45 bucks for a 5 dollar adapter is to find one exactly like those that come with the cards.

Does anyone know who makes the DVI-VGA adapters that come with the eVGA cards? There are some made by Link Depot that are the same color and design but the VGA end is black instead of blue like those that come included with the eVGA cards.

I thought about calling them and saying that only one DVI-VGA adapter came with the card and initially I wasn't too concerned about it because I didn't need them anyway. That way it looks like it was their fault and not mine. However, this is dishonest and that's not the best way to go about things.

Maybe they will somehow only charge me for the missing adapter and not 15 percent of the card cost. Maybe if I schmooze them a little and say "if you can somehow work with me on this, you will have a customer for life." (And they would). However, if that doesn't work I will be forced to find an exact match for the one that came with it. All I know is that if they try to charge me 45 bucks for the missing adapter, I'm going with BFG next time.

I know that rules are rules, but are they going to charge 45 bucks if you don't have the stickers? By their guidelines, a missing accessory is a missing accessory. Let's get real folks, if accessories are missing they should charge you for whats missing and not just automatically charge you 15%. If they are going to charge you 15% regardless, you might as well just send only the card back and keep the other stuff. Because by their rules, they are going to charge you 15% anyway whether it be stickers or the VIVO dongle or the DVI-VGA adapters. Sure, those accessories aren't worth much, but just as a matter or principle I would keep everything.

Don't get me wrong, this step-up program is a great deal and I hate to bitch, but charging 45 bucks (or more depending on the price of the card), for a couple stickers or a 5 dollar DVI-VGA adapter seems a bit ridiculous to me.

So does anyone know who makes these or where I can find an exact match? I suppose I could maybe get another one from eVGA, but it seems a bit redundant to order an adapter just to include it with the card I'm sending back. It seems like they could just let me send the card without one of the DVI-VGA adapters and charge me for it.

I plan on calling them tomorrow and getting some info on what the deal is, so I'll let you know.

Thanks in advance.
