I would like to get the latest non-beta drivers for the Diamond MX300 sound card. At Vortex of Sound there is a reference to a downloadable file 102REL.EXE, but it is not available there now that Diamond is gone. I was able to download the A3D drivers (a3ddrivers312.exe) and the 3D demos, which are related.

Does anyone have this file 102REL.EXE, or know where I can get it.

:)

P.S.
I also posted this in the Peripherals forum.

Too bad. The links there to the drivers are links (like those at Vortex of Sound) to inactive diamondmm.com pages.

Thanks again, Ladi - ditto for that site!

Thanks Apache XMD:
I found that site myself, but I couln't find the MX300 drivers there. It did have the A3D drivers, but I already had those. I think I need to install both sets, although I don't have a clue what the functional difference is between them or how they interrelate. I think one is for the device itself and the other is for its interface with various programs, games and so forth. The MX300 drivers have to be installed first.

Dude
My advice is to avoid the Diamond Drivers if you can. The reference drivers are generally more up to date.

the MX300 uses the Aureal Vortex2 chip. Thus you need Vortex2 drivers for it to work.
A3D is a 3d sound api that the vortex2 supports.
but for a3d to work you need to get the a3d drivers. they're only for the 3d sound stuff..

you can see at http://downloads.aureal.com that a3d drivers can be downloaded separately...
but you don't need to do that, as the i gave you above includes the latest a3d driver set.

so there ya go

At the risk of being a real burden, I'll ask one more question:

I started at VortexofSound.com where I found simple clear instructions for upgrading my sound card's drivers. It said to:

1. First download and install what they called the 'MX300 Drivers' (that's the file they called 102REL.EXE, which I don't have and which may not be available).

2. Next download and install what they called the 'A3D Drivers' (that's the Aureal file a3ddrivers312.exe, I believe, which I do have).

My question is:

If I can't find the 'MX Drivers' what do I use in their place (before I install the A3D Drivers)?

I'm not technically astute, obviously, so I just want to follow those two simple instructions above in order to minimize complications.

Thank you again, all. I'll try to return the favor by helping others in the forums in areas where, believe it or not, I do have some expertise.

:)
