Need "Custom" PC Vendor Recs

I could use a recommendation for a PC vendor that can build a PC to spec, more or less, but will also offer a warranty, a price quote, and some level of support.

He wants something like what I would build him - Athlon 64 with Nvidia chipset, RAID'd drives, dual DVI video card, etc. But he wants something that approaches a Dell-like buying experience.

The reason? Well, he's scared to just have someone build it for him. That, and he's getting a new PC as an insurance adjustment, and he gets a bigger payout if he buys from a "real" vendor.

Of course, I explained that it'd just cost more to go with a so-called "real" vendor, but whatever...

Any recommendations appreciated.

Alienware, Falcon-NW, VoodooPC well if price isnt a big deal, those are the names to look for otherwise checkout ABS Systems.

why don't you do it yourself?

no reason that you can't write him out a receipt as if you were a real vendor and put a 15-25% markup on it (like a real vendor ;))

I suppose ABS PC is as good as any. Just pick a starting point and trick it out from the options lists. I would look into their extended warranty to find out what happens if their service company goes TU.

I think that I found a vendor - gamepc.com - they have exactly the hardware that he'll want. Very expensive, but that's his issue. Anyone have an opinion?

i like gamepc, but their waaaay expensive. if you're not loaded up the butt, then stick to abspc since they are my favorite vendor and are pretty cheap. pcworld rates them very well too.
