I know this might not be the best time for banks to give out loans and credit cards. But I would like to try anyways to consolidate three credit cards into 1 payment if possible. Maybe some of you can recommend some banks or good recent credit cards?

I want to stay away from Bank Of America. I been reading all kinds of things online on how horrible they are and if you complain they close your accounts.

Current I have the following three credit cards. The numbers are rounded.
Citibank Mastercard owe 4200, limit 5000
Bank of America Visa own 7800, limit 9000
Bank of America Mastercard own 5700, limit 7000

So I need about 18000 limit.

Only my Citibank account has somewhat low interest of 9%, the Bank Of America cars are high, 17 and 18%. I don?t purchase anything on the credit cards anymore. I been doing debt reduction since the beginning of the year, already paid off and closed a Capital One account.

I haven't checked in a while. It used to be 680-710, but finished school last fall and added on two big student loan consolidation loans over $60000.

I make all payments on time, never late, but obviously my the debt to income ratio is way off.

I used to lose sleep over the $8K debt. I would slit myself if I were in your debt.

<-- 100% CC debt free since last fall! 😀😀😀😀

You should find out your FICO score before taking action. No sense in applying (and getting rejected) for cards you can't get. Check the credit pulls database at creditboards.com for data on approvals and credit limits based on credit score.

I would recommend finding a local credit union while researching other options. They can sometimes be generous with credit limits.

Try Amex.

That's what my wife and I did and were able to get 0% for a year and then 3.9 for the life of the balance transfer.

The only catch to it is if you use the card to purchase anything, it's a 12% and you don't start paying towards new purchases until the full balance transfer is paid in full, so you're paying that 12% for however long it takes to pay off the transfer.

So we just transferred 3 different accounts onto it and then threw the card in the safe.

I wouldn't try Discover. They are one of the toughest cards to get and even if they approve, the credit lines are small. They will never give you a credit line that's twice as large as any you currently have.

Have you tried to get a credit line increase from Citi?

Yep my recommendation as well. Amex can probably get you a really high credit line assuming you qualify.

Currently carrying 2 Amex cards now (one 22k one 25k), I use them solely for business purposes and are paid off every month.

You could call in to have the interest rate lowered, try it.
Usually they will do something to lower your interest rate if you just ask.
I had mine lowered from around 14% to 7%. 🙂

I don't know exactly what my score is, but I had a BOA Mastercard with about 9K on it that I wanted to transfer.
I applied for one of those 0% balance transfer cards, but once I got the card, it only came with a 3K credit limit. I paid 2000 off of my BOA card, and transferred 2600 (max that they would let me transfer.) My BOA card is around 20%, and I'll hopefully get it paid off by the year's end.

My advice, don't buy a new house without selling your old one first. It's expensive!

For the limit he needs, above 700 would be good.

mines at about 651 right now...and I just got approved for a $4k Chase card. Up until now I've been dealing with those poor credit $300 or $500 limit credit cards, so this new card makes me feel good about working hard to improve my score.

Chase offers me balance transfer options, but it would be nice to get it with 0% apr. Does anyone know of any company that would approve me for around a $3k card with 0% on transfer?

Apparently Bank Of America will close your account if you ask too many questions.
