I think I really did it this time! I signed up for Dish Network without putting any research into this. I don't know what came over me! 😱
They have a promotion for free installation & equipment and first three months free. I told them I'd need four receivers! That's an extra $15.00 per month right there when I have to start paying for it!
I asked the guy about buying my own receiver(s). He said their Echostar Pro 301/ JVC TU-301RU is $120.00. I called later and said I found a whole dish, LNBF, receiver package for only $99.00 shipped! He said theirs would work out cheaper by the time it was activated or programmed or whatever the hell he was talking about. I DON'T GET IT!
That's another thing. I coughed up $69.00 via CC for activation fee. What is that? When I asked about buying my own receiver(s), he said that, the way my order read, I was getting a four 'something or other' cables down from the dish. Any receiver I bought would be a fifth unit. Damn, I don't understand this stuff!
I assumed that a dish was mounted on the roof and the signal was split to as many receivers as needed. Apparently that isn't the case. How does it work?
And even if I bought my own equipment, I'd still have to pay them their $37.00 per month for 100 channels and $5.00 per month for each receiver. Is that true? Why would I have to pay $5.00 per month if I own the extra receivers? Do they have to program those receivers? How does that work? Are they merely disabling the other 400 channels it can receive or what?
In a nutshell, HOW DOES THIS ALL WORK? Is there a site that explains this shiznit? 😕
