If you don't have the 3.25 firmware on your router, you will need to open ports:
27005
27015

Do this in menu 15. Just point these ports to your system that wants to host and you'll be fine. With firmware 3.25, you can map port ranges instead of just specific ports.

yeah thanx for the tip. since ive pos that here this morning ive been reading up on the issue over the net. and have found that i just have to open up ports and learned quite alot (since i didnt know much about it) about ports and protocals.. udp tcp nat.. blah blah.
i have 3.24 now so i'll try to open ports on that when i get home and see how it works out.
ill have to upgrade to 3.25 as it seems to add more security functions and all important port forwarding (in range now).
thanx again.

<< Isn't port 27005 for the cliet. >>

27005 is for the GameSpy/WON broadcast. People can run servers without 27005, but you won't be broadcasting to the auth servers. This is fine if you want a small server that a few people will know about, but if you want it public, you want to broadcast.
