Need CODEC everytime?

Everytime I try to play the avi files by Media Player 7 or the old Media
Player it shows "requesting codec", holds on for 10 sec. (downloading?) then
starts playing with no sound. What's the problem? I have installed the
latest Divx already.

I's using WinXP Pro.

huh? i dont experience that problem???

mmmm.... try to install both divx version (3.11 and 4.12) or maybe you want to download Windows Media 8 codec.

i hope this help....
 
Yeah, installing both 3.12 and 4.11 helps, plays the avi files perfectly.

I'm having the same problem and I installed the 3.12alpha codec and the 4.12 codec and still my sound doesn't work?

Can you send me the link to the files where you downloaded your codecs?
