Need Cisco AP1220 Update

I was given a cisco Aironet AP1220 and I would like to make sure it has the latest software, however the cisco site requires a password (why?)

I am currently running c1200-k9w7-tar.122-15.JA with bootloader 12.2(8)JA

Does anyone know where I can get this without jumping through hoops with cisco?

Because you have to pay for the software. Just like a PC, you don't get Windows for free, neither will you get an IOS for free.

If your PC has Windows 2000 and you want Vista, you have to buy the upgrade. Same with Cisco. If ou want the latest IOS, buy the Smartnet and you can then download it.

You need to signup for a cisco.com account, I am guessing one of the reasons they require you to login is verify that you can legally download high encryption software.
Cisco.com Registration

The latest firmware appears to be c1200-k9w7-tar.123-8.JEA1.tar if you want to try and locate another source for it. Their FTP server is secured as well.

getting this image file by any other means would be illegal...so no.

Wow, had no idea it was that big of a deal, i just figured they were like any other AP where the software was just a firmware upgrade and thus free.

Hehe, I wasn't sure but I thought this way the case, I have a login from work but I never use it, because I am not really a networking guy.
