Need cheap Wireless PCI card or USB for old Win 98SE computer -- help me choose

I need to find a cheap wireless LAN PCI card or USB stick for an old Pentium III 533 Mhz computer so that my little five-year old nephew can play some online kids games when he comes over to visit for Thanksgiving.

Here are two of my choices, which do you think would be best for that rig? It's running Windows 98SE. Is a PCI card with a nice big antenna better than a USB plug-in?

I can pick this one up locally but don't really feel like driving across town for it and hassling with a rebate but it would be the easiest one to "install".

This one can be had for $10.78 shipped after a coupon code:

I'm leaning towards just ordering the PCI card from Newegg.

IMO i'd just get the USB version... granted win 98 is still supported and call it good. At least you can use it on a different pc/laptop in the future.

I was going to suggest going with the generic ("High power") Realtek 802.11g USB adaptor from meritline.com, for $13, but it seems that they've taken it off of their site! 🙁

In my "bible" if few $$ is the make or the brake of something that means the the something is Useless and not really needed, and better let go . 🙁

I would Not explain it to him because if he understands, it means that he knows that his wish worth $12, but Not $20, I would Not want a 5 year old to feel this way.

P.S. In New York City one hour of Therapy with a Good "Shrink" goes for $150- $250. 🙄

Hence, One can buy 10 cards instead of paying to a "Shrink" telling the Kid (when he grows up) that his Psychological issues comes from his parent attitude toward spending few $$$ to make him feel good. :sneaky: -
