Helping him put together an inexpensive system & he's not working, so it has to be low $. My hand-me-downs will become his when I upgrade, so he'll have a 1.8a on an 845PE w/ onboard sound, some PC2100 Kingston ram I got for free that clocks to 140MHz so he might do some overclocking, a CD-RW, a Radeon VIVO & two old hard drives.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks, have you used any of these? I inquired about the power supply on the $23 model from Micro Center. Since it's 400w, if it's any good it would allow him to overclock some....

The case you inquired about has a very 'light-weight' feeling power supply & the grill work on the case isn't that forgiving either. I can't say much about any of the other cases, though I'd be most comfortable spending $20 more for one of the Antecs.

If you must stick in the sub $30 range, maybe you can get away with the Athenatech A445BBL-L350 from PCclub (#3). Someone on this forum is swearing by the Athenatech line so maybe their bundled PSUs are a littler better than average.

If you live by a PCClub you can get one for $30 w/ free pickup.

I know that before nexfan.com has some really good deals on atx cases. Not sure if that's still the point now. I've purchased a dozen atx cases from them in the past. It was anywhere from $20 - $25 shipped to my door.
