Modding my Case to silence I decided for 120 rear exhaust but on front I'm torn between 2x120 or one 140 intake. -What do you say?

As for the 140mm the is only one model on the market Aerocool Streamliner

What should be there best silent fan for this purpose Nexus, Yate-Loon, Scythe S-Flex or Akasa Amber?

The Streamliner, 140x20=55cfm@19dBA...Yeah right ! Plz buy one and review it for us.
When you post the review, be sure and put the brand name in the title. It will be easy
for all to search it later. When dBA rating is <40% of the cfm it's either an exceptional
fan or a lie.
I don't care for the 20mm thinness, the tiny motor or the uber-blade count.

As a personal choice I'd go for the Akasa fan.

For some good imput on the NeXus, Yate Loon, Scythe, & Akasa, follow suggestion #2 in
the provided link.

I did and do read other topic on this subject, therefore uses the search...;)
but I'm still not sure which fan will suit best.
This is how I summarized it,
120mm-
Nexus and YL are pretty much the same fan (Nexus=YL w/small resistor).
Akasa Amber is cheaper and some says will give more air flow per noise against Nexus
but a Twin Ball Bearing type.
How does it compared to the YL? I can only guess YL would be louder per CFM?!??
How the S-Flex is standing comparing? I'm not sure.

140mm-No experiences yet of any.
I'll will be more than happy to be the first to review it, it will be my small contribution/gratitude, but since I'm ordering it overseas (any the fan I chose) I need to be somehow certain it is the right choice. Also I want to avoid re-modifications...
Maybe if we compare the 120mm version of this fan we could have some idea?

I don't know really. I'm using Antec SX (similar size of the p180) it has 2x80mm rear and front (total 4x80).
I'm replacing the NB to passive NB47J, the HSF to Ninja with or w/o fan, and the GPU HS to vf700 or a silencer. Case modification will change the rear 2x80-->1x120 and front 2x80-->1x140?? or 2x120??

Will these fans be on a controller at all? Just wondering.
Some will be connected to the MB and controlled VIA SpeedFan but since SF needs to be reset on startup I'll use 5/7V mods or some Fanmate2 as well.

OH !! Goodie ! A for real case-cutter

Syythe is expensive but comes in several cfm ratings. Has ceramic sleeve bearings. That
might be a plus but who really knows. At $15 a pop, I won't be the first to know.

Akasa only comes in one cfm rating. It is a quality ball bearing fan and I like that fact.
You just have to be careful and not drop it to the floor. The races will get dented.

Yate Loon Drives a little more air with much more dBA than Akasa but is cheaper.

NeXus are for bragging rights or those that lead a monastic life :D Highly over rated and
expensive.

What fans do I use ? Sanyo Denki and Delta Triple Bladed fans.

Since your going to use software to controll the fans...Make SURE they have a tach/sensor feed wire.
All the DTB fans and Akasa have this vanishing feature.

If you find a lack of room for modding to a 120mm fan...Paired 92mm fans do very well indeed
in the cfm vs dBA wars.
The easy mod for paired 92s is to super glue them together on one side. Then mount with the outside holes.
The sides just have to be sanded and preped on a flat surface, then the bonding is done.
If you need to do this, it works.

Forgot: If you mod for a 140mm fan and don't like the fan, you will be left with a 140 hole.

Silverstone offers fans that are large in diameter but attach to a smaller fan size mounting
holes. Go to thier web page and have a look. Most come with a controller.
They are not cheap. One of these might work on the rear for exhaust.

Man you are funny

I saw the Akasa Amber for <$17, 80K hr (w/no need to send abroad) and can also get the Glacialtech silent blade which come in two model types:
GT1225EBDL Entering Bearing <$9 30K hr
GT12252BDL Two Balls Bearing ~$12 50K hr

I'm leaning towards the Amber but the GT SB Entering Bearing is half the price, are you familiar with those?

I'm not familiar with GT fans, they are not State side yet AFAIK.
Our resident Hungarian highly reccomends GT fans, Suzifatt or something similare is his
user name.

Show a profile because some of us feel foolish by being tricked into thinking that a poster
lives in the lower 48. Only to have them say, whoa ! I live in Oz, the UK, NZ or India.

In that case I'll go for 2xGT entering bearing at front, and an Amer on the rear.
All on 5V setting.
