Need Carpool suggestions

I am now carpooling with 2 other co-workers and we are trying to figure out the best solution to handle this.

One co-worker has to have his car for lunch every Tuesday, so instead of taking turns driving by week, we rotate drivers daily (except for Fridays when we all drive seperate).

What is the best buy to handle days when one person cannot drive (vacation, out of town on business trip, sick, etc) so that driving responsibility remains fair for all 3 carpool participants overall? One guy is going out of town next week so we are trying to figure something out.

all 3 of us get along great and it won't be a matter of splitting hairs or or anything, but we all want to be fair about it...

Thanks for any tips/advice.

I'm in the same situation. Although 3rd guy has ditched us 3 weeks in a row.
ANd 2nd guy works from home randomly and frequently.

Its really hard to institute a fair share program when things change so frequently.

G'luck and let me know if you figure a way out.

It isn't going to be fair. You have to just suck it up and face it that you will drive more often and since you are going there anyway, might as well help your buddies save gas.

The rotating daily is probably your best bet and on days someone ditches, it almost sounds like you need to roll the dice or flip a coin to see who carpools that day.

How about a rotation system where the top name on the list has to drive on the next exception day, and after that day, his name goes to the bottom of the list.
