Need car insurance for one month

Well I need some advice. I bought a car yesterday, and need insurance. I was talking to AAA, and thier rates are the best, if I start after aug 1st since they have a policy change then. So I need insurance for 1 month in the mean time. I talked to eastwood, and thier rates suck, since I have to pay a fee to start the policy, it would be something like $300 for the first month.

I have a clean driving record, where might you guys go if you needed basic insurance for one month?

I'd get an 'In Transit' vehicle insurance pass which lasts 2 weeks then go somewhere else and get another one after those 2 weeks are up.

Total cost - $40.

Keep in mind though, they punish you if you don't have uninterupted insurance for the last bajillion years.

Where do you get "in transit" insurance?

why not just go public transportation for 1 month ?

I would, but I start a real job in a week, and I have had enough of wearing a tie and slacks on the bus when I was going for job interviews.

Does anyone know of a company, that you can pay monthly for? One where I could sign up for a 6 month stint, and cancel after 1 month?

Most insurance companies will refund on a short-rate, not pro-rata basis. That's to discourage the type of usage you are suggesting.

Perhaps if they issued a temp binder for coverage, you could have coverage for a limited period of time.
