Ok, as you might have seen my other thread, I bought a '90 Honda Civic CRX with 125,448 miles on it. First off the interior is HELLA dirty, and the cars a salvaged vehicle. I really want to get it back to it's "original" shape. How expensive would it be to put the interior back to it's "original" condtion. Anyone know anyplace online that I can be interior parts? Any and all help is welcome!

BTW, I was wondering how much it would cost to put power steering on the car (it doesn't have it =(). I love the handling though. Everything seems to be ok with the car, gonna get the VIN number and get a CarFax report on it soon though. Thanks for the replies!

salvaged???

dont bother putting on power steering its a light car and after a while its fine. The only time its hard to turn is in tight corners. Otherwise it should be fine.

If its a "salvage title, insurance title, rebuilt title" or something like that its not worth putting a dime into. Just drive it till the wheels fall off and walk away from it.

Yah, it's been salvaged. I gotta put new front headlights on it and a new front bumper. I was gonna replace the front bumper later on, but I guess I'll do it now. I dunno about HyperSports, they're kinda expensive, I was thinking WMR or Sonic's. Not sure though.

So it's not worth putting power steering on? Why not? All the car's I've had, have had power steering on them. I just feel weird without it...

You already have plates for it right? Usually cars with a salvage title have to go through an inspection and cetification process before they are allowed back on the street!

As far as seats, you might want to check salvage yards or see if there are some enthusiast groups online that can point your toward seats.

So it's not worth fixing up? I dunno, I just figure I could get more for it if I sell it later on if I fix it now...

Or since it's salvaged it doesn't apply?

trust me it will feel funny at slow speed, like getting out of a very tight parking spot. Otherwise its fine.
Plus powersteering will cause things like understeer, which my toyota tercel does without powersteering.

Trust me its fine, drive it until the wheels fall off. Its not worth putting 600 bucks into it.

I think I've found seats. Someone was selling '99 Civic EX front seats for 100. So I think I'll pick those up. Then get the interior detailed.

Forget about the powersteering its not worth it. I drove a plymouth horizan beater around for 8 months with its powersteering belt cut and after a month or two you get to like it better that way. I would look to junkyards for most of the interior parts you need. I picked up 2 nice bucket seats for around $60 for a duster I had from one. You might be able to find a few things at www.jcwhitney.com. I have heard they actually have decent carpet. I wouldn't stick a bunch of money into a car with a salvage title cause its going to be about worthless when you go to sell it.

If you are putting a few bucks into the car to make it a nicer ride for a couple of years, no problem. So long as you realize that you might not get one penny of your money back. People are a bit wary of cars with a salvage title, they will always bring some money, but I wouldnt plan on trying to make it a show car or anything.

I'm planning on keeping it as a show car. I'm going to fix it up and shiz. I'm not going to sell it. I plan on keeping it around as a project car. When I'm done with it, I'll post pics, before and after, so you can see if you like it or not. I'll have pics in a few days. Thanks for the comments.
