I've been looking at getting myself a car for quite some time, just never gotten down to actually getting it.
But I'll probabaly get it this summer, however Im undecided on which car to get.

Basically I've narrowed it down to the following cars:

Nissan 200SX(180SX in the US I think, not sure, 1.8L 179 hp turbo engine)

Nissan 300ZX TT

Mitsubishi 3000GT TT

Now, disregard looks, since thats purely subjective and up to me.
Im looking on input about handling and quality more than anything.

As for prices, the 200 is quite a bit cheaper than the others, but thats not a huge issue, the 200 is mostly there in case I find some good reason not to get the others.
The 3000GT and 300ZX are fairly equal in price.

I also thought of a Supra MK IV but those are pretty damn expensive.

So, quality, handling, and to a smaller extent, interrior, which is the best?

[edit]Oh and by the way, if there's another car out there that you think would be a better pick, I'd love to hear about it, my taste should be fairly obvious given the cars I just named ;)[/edit]

Check out the 2003 Nissan 350z. They're hard to come by as of now, but they're like a poor-man's porche. I'd say they have excellent handling knowing Nissan... About $26 grand sticker price.

I'd ask yourself a couple of questions before you get those cars though cause insurance is gonna be high prolly...

The 350Z
Well, for one thing, I don't know when this will be available, nor at what price, haven't seen much of these since Nissan showed them at some car show(dont remember which one).
In either case, I think they look like $hit, looks like a combination between a Carrera and an Audi TT.

The Impreza likewise lacks the looks, not bad, better than the 350, but nowehere near a 300ZX or 3KGT.

Thanks, and keep 'em comming :)

If you're considering these gas guzzling insurance crazy cars then might as well wait for the Mazda RX8. It should be coming out within the year. Or you could wait a bit longer and buy the rotary powered Miata that will be based on the RX8 chassis. I'm drooling already. :)

Actually I had a look at some RX-7's, really nice cars, but way expensive, almost twice the price of comparable 300's and 3K's.

But indeed, they're very nice cars.

My personal choice would be the 3000GT VR4 just because of all the cool gadgets they have. 4-wheel drive, 4-wheel steering, self-lowering suspension, lots of electronic goodies. An added bonus (or a detraction) is that there are relatively few 3000GT VR4's out there, with a lot of "sheep in wolves clothing" 3000 GT S's and 3000GT SL's, so the car is a bit more of a sleeper as most people aren't used to seeing a VR4. I like the 300ZX a lot too, but even considering Mitsu's less than stellar reliability record, I'd go with a 3000GT VR4.

MooseKnuckle, the European 200SX is known as something else outside of Europe, though I cant remember what.

It's sometimes referred to as the Silvia S13.
There's also a 240SX with a 2.4L 155 hp engine.

But anyway, the 200SX Im looking at has the CA18DET engine, that is, the 1.8L turbo with 169 hp.

Next winter I am getting a nice 1970 GTO body. I am getting the 445 super duty engine. WHOOMAH. Putting a t4 turbo on it, NOS if I have money left over. This will be my 1st frame up restoration. My dads 7th.

Edit Forgot the HIGH rise intake. Muahaha

The Mitsubishi should not be included, as it is the most costly of the cars in terms of repairs. And things WILL break. Most notable are weak transmissions, clutches, and I think fatal crankwalk also plagues the 3KGT VR4.

The Nissan 300ZX was notorious for having one of the highest insurance rates in the U.S. for quite sometime. Not as moddable as the MKIV Supra, a little heavier, a little outdated in terms of look, but hot diggity darn it looks great in black and goes like stink.

As for what I would get, I'd get myself a S14 and swap in a SR20DET. That's just me. I'm not a fan of the hatchback stylings of the S13 anymore. However, our of the three you chose, I'd most likely find myself happiest in the Silvia.

But I wouldn't be happy with any of the cars in your post:)

Give me urQuattro anyday baby! Either that or the immensly wonderful Porsche 944Turbo:D Too bad Porsches are just as expensive as the 300ZXTT in repairs...So I guess that leaves the UrQuattro.

Awesome reply Groove, just the kind of input I was looking for.

I've heard sopme bad things about the 3000GT in terms of reliability, just didn't know if thats true or not.

Most people seem to think the 300ZX is quite the fighter OTOH, not needing alot of repairs.

Thanks a bunch :)
