need burner software suggestions

Hello All,

I'm looking for suggestions on any burning software. Last week I was on vacation and my daughter and me took all sorts of pictures with our digicams, well, the laptop that I was using (mine is out for repair so I rented one)

acted kinda weird when I burned all of our pictures yesterday before we went home, and now I know why..the pictures that I had burned for my digicam and hers wouldn't work on our computers. It only worked on the rented laptop. So I guess its time for me to buy a good burning program but I really don't know which one that I should get.

It seems that Roxio-7 or NERO are the ones to get but like I said I don't know so I thouhgt that I would come here and get your guys/gals input on it :D

I also will use it for backing up my Windows OS and making screen savors if it comes with that.

Either Roxio or Nero are good and will get the job done. I personally prefer Nero.

Nero.

You probably burned the CD using some sort of "packet writing" scheme (to support drag and drop in windows explorer) instead of as a normal data CD. If you really need to read that CD (only copies of the photos) you'd need to buy something that includes the same kind of "packet writing" support.

I guess so, The rented laptop did not have any burning software although it was a fairly new 15" IBm laptop. Heres what happened.

After selecting the photos to burn (just using WinXP default burner) I then right-clicked on all of them and usually there would be a pop up menu that would say send to cd drive and then I would burn them.

But this time after doing all of that the computer said that I would have to "format" the blank that I just had put in. So after allowing the OS to format my blank I then burned all of our pictures onto the blanks.

This was the first time that I witnessed a burner saying that I had to format the media, but maybe they all do that it just that its done and we don't see it being done.

So I guess Ill get NERO but which version would you sugget? also how come some people don't like Roxio?

Don't like nero...never have! Love Roxio, never had any problems like I had with nero crapping up the cds...

hehehe, I was reading the "Peoples" reviews on |CNET.com| and its pretty much a tie as to which one is the better program.

Although people seem to say that NERO is the better product, I guess its jsut a matter of personal choice so to me which ever is the cheaper product at the retail store will be the deciding factor in what I buy :)

cKGunslinger WHOO-WHOO!! it worked,

I just copied the photos back on that rental lappy and then insatlled CD-BURNERXP and then used that program to burn all of our vacation pictures on a new CD blank and now we are a happy family again. A cold one for you buddy :beer:
