Need build advice - have around $1200 on core components

Hi guys -- I am upgrading from a Barton 2500+, 1GB RAM, 6800GT. I use a Westinghouse 32" LCD for my monitor - have a WD raptor for HDD - have NEC 3550 DVD burner -- Seasonic 400W PSU. I've been out of the loop for a while (deployed) so now I come back and my system is mediocre.

I want to build a system around the E6600 with moderate overclocking in mind (around 3.0 - 3.2ghz). My main concern is motherboard and memory compatibility issues. I'm leaning towars the Gigabyte DS3. What is good ram to pair with that considering my overclocking goals? I would like a high end video card, $300+ non-SLI although I would consider a 7950GX2 for a single card solution (is my 400w psu going to be enough - it's good quality). Could one of you ambitious fellows draw up a system for me? I'm willing to buy now! Thanks in advance!

For the RAM, you could try Corsair 2GB 8500C5D which is prime for overclocking and is compatible with the Gigabyte mobo. If you do chose the 7950GX2, which is a great card, I would upgrade your PSU. Take a look at the Enermax Liberty 500W...

i would recommend an asus p5w-dh for your e6600 since it has more features, on the 975x chipset, and can easily reach your overclock of 3.0-3.2.

well, basically just take a look at my rig and you'll see what id recommend, i have mine currently overclocked to 3.2ghz.
