Need Blue Ray player

I need to get a Blue ray player within the next few days. So, I'll probably want to get it from a brick and mortar like best Buy, Wal-Mart or Target.

I don't need anything expensive. Having bought a loud DVD player in the past, I can say that I want a Blue Ray player that is whisper quiet. Other than that, functional and cheap are the requirements.

Any advice?
 
Do you have Amazon prime? you can get it in 2 days.

Most of the newer players are quiet, I don't think you have to worry about that. Cheapest you will find is in Walmart, they have some sub-$50 ones, magnavox or sony or philips iirc

If you need smart players with internet connections and apps and stuff then those will run atleast $80 - $100. Samsung BD-F5900 is actually a pretty popular model

I can't remember the model number, but I have a Sony model from a little over a year ago, purchased from Best Buy for a bit over $100. Lots of features but a very clunky interface for the apps (e.g. the Netflix navigation is terrible). I wouldn't call it loud, but it sure ain't quiet, especially on start up or inserting a new disc.
 
I've never heard a blu-ray player that was actually what could be considered loud. I'm probably not the best source on that one, but the tech is mature enough that even the cheapo ones are pretty decent. LG, samsung, phillips and panasonic all have models under $80 some even with wifi.
 
No interest in 3d at all unless it is $20 more. I doubt my next TV will be a 3D model.

I really wpould love someone here to say that make/model version X is quiet.

Something with a good Netflix interface would be a nice bonus though.

Well I have the non 3d version BDPS3100 of this model I listed and its quiet. Netflix interface works not as good as the LG version but eh,

i have the 5100 model and i don't think i've ever heard it. but then again, it's in a closet (with the door open partially) when i'm watching a movie and with my setup it would be hard to hear anything other than speakers blasting into your ears, although i can hear my sub amp during quiet scenes. but when i start it up and take discs out of it, i don't recall ever hearing it making any noise.

never used any apps on it though, i use my xbox360 when i want to use hbo go or my x1 when using amazon prime.
 
I just got the Sony BDPS5200 a couple of weeks ago. It is a little noisy when you first put a disc in. I don't hear it while the movie is playing. The picture quality is very good. The Netflix app on it is better than the ones on my Panasonic plasma or my roku. It is a little slow starting apps. The BDPS6200 should be faster with a dual core processor. It is also quite a bit more expensive than the 5200. The WiFi connection on the 5200 is said to be improved on the 5200 compared to the 5100 from the reviews I have read. My connection has been excellent on the 5200. My son has an older Panasonic from Walmart. The app interface is not that great, but the picture quality may be a little better than my Sony. I did not get a new Panasonic because, I read that the apps have adds that cannot be turned off.
