need big time help with video card

i installed an ati 9700pro that a friend gave me. i'm not sure what is going on. i installed the ati catalyst drivers without the control panel. i then installed the ati omega drivers so i can get better performance from the card for gaming reasons. now the card will not run throw the #Dmark testing program at all. and when i try to play a game the screen goes blank. what exactly am i doing wrong here??

I don't think you're supposed to have both driver sets installed at the same time. They're probably conflicting. The speed boost is negligable anyway... I only reccomend alternate drivers when then they create a more stable alternative to the Cat's. Try uninstalling the whole shooting match, and reinstalling the Cat 4.whatevers that just came out. That *should* work for ya.
