Ok, so I'm primarily a photoshop user and I need better disc performance. I run WinXp Pro currently with an Adaptec AAA133U2 Controller with 2 Seagate X15 Drives in RAID 0. (generation 1 X15's)
Sandra reports that my disc speeds are pretty slow somewhere by 25 mb per second or so. I've seen some IDE drives do better then that so I'm wondering what should I upgrade?
I figure I have 2 real options:
1. Ditch the U2 Raid controller for a 29160 and run the drives straight on a 160MB Channel vs. the old 80MB Channel.
2. Ditch the drives and Raid controller for a IBM or Maxtor Hd.
Basically it comes down to this; Will a 1st Gen X15 Seagate outperform the IDE Maxtor's and IBM's?
