The situation itself isn't computer related but the result is. I'm using an ATI TV Wonder PCI in my system and I like to record the occasional program. Unfortunately I have satellite TV and the signal just plain sucks. Well, when I do a signal strength test, it has shown to be about 80-90%.
Anyway, this is my setup. Satellite --> cable --> reciever --> 10db AMP w/ 1 input & 1 output--> 2 line splitter --> 1) Sony Trinitron TV
From the 2 line splitter --> RG cable approx 5-6 metres long --> another 2-line splitter --> 1) another TV 2) ATI TV Wonder
The problem is I get noticeable black lines in the picture. Sometimes they're not so noticeable but on some days they are very dark and annoying to watch the TV on. This happens on the first TV too so I know it's not just signal degrading through the cables. It does however look worse on the TV Wonder and is VERY noticeable.
Anyone know what I can do? I haven't called the tech support yet from my satellite provider to see if they could improve the signal but I doubt they could anyway. Besides switching back to cable of course.
