Need Beerophile Recommendations

I love me some beer, but I really wouldn't consider myself an expert. So, from some of you worldly and cultured beer lovers, I need some recommendations from this list:

http://www.thebrickskeller.net/_wsn/page3.html

Conservatively estimating, I will probably have about 4, and I want to make my selections wise!

I want to take advantage of the selection, so I don't plan on ordering anything I can get in a normal grocery store or bar.

German? Japanese? English? Mexican? Kenyan? Thai? The options are almost endless!

WEXFORD Irish Cream Ale (CAN) 16oz Ireland

That's the only one of those i've had, and would recommend.

ok thanks guys! thats 2 for the list

/0 any hints on the pronunciation so i dont look like a noob?

anyone else want to contribute? whats your DREAM BEER?

CHIMAY Grand Reserve Blue 11.2oz Belgium
CHIMAY Grand Reserve Blue 750ml Belgium
CHIMAY Trappiste Abbey Red 11.2oz Belgium
CHIMAY Trappiste Abbey Red 750ml Belgium

IMHO, Chimay is one of the finest beers around. It's bottle fermented and very nice. The blue is very strong and can be a bit too much for some people. The red is a bit easier to handle. They should be served in a wide-mouthed glass, please don't drink from the bottle.

ROGUE Dead Guy Ale 12oz OR
BROOKLYN E I P A NY
ESTRELLA GALACIA Spain

honestly, i really like pretty much all beer. as it is, the beers i prefer to drink regularly if possible (in no particular order) - dos XX, guinness, shiner bock, anything abita, anything st. arnold. the situation really dictates what i am in the mood for... casual or binge beer drinking it will likely be something mexican like dos, or tecate or modelo. if im just going to have one beer, it will be something dark like a guinness or similar beer (not much experience with similar beers to guinness)

im mostly looking to branch out more and just try the ones that other people swear by! it looks like i have some to try now 🙂

also, pronunciation on chimay?

At 5.2%ABV it's not 'that' light.

ADNAMS Broadside Ale 16.9oz England
ADNAMS Suffolk Special Bitter 16.9oz England

not sure which one, but I had this while I was in England, thought it was great. Haven't seen it in the states yet. Funny thing is I dont think i saw Bass ANYwhere while I was over there.

I'm dissapointed. They had St. Bernardus single, double, and tripel, but no Abt 12 quad 🙁

yeah definitely the place to branch out.

I would think that you have an excellent oppurtunity to get to know the belgium beers since they appear to have quite a few on tap. Run the gamut with these!

Others I would be tempted to have:

AVERY'S Hog Heaven Barley Style (surprisely un-barley wine like; best balanced barly wine I have ever had.)
MORLAND Hen's Tooth Strong Ale 16.9oz England
one of:
{UNIBROUE Quelque Chose Cherry Ale 750ml Canada
UNIBROUE Terrible 750ml Canada
UNIBROUE Three Philosophers 12 12oz Canada}
one of:
{ST. BERNARDUS Prior 8 Belgium
ST. BERNARDUS Proir 11.2oz Belgium
ST. BERNARDUS Triple 11.2oz Belgium}

yeah i would also wait and see what the barkeep might recommend, especially of the belgiums that you simply won't get a chance to taste elsewhere.

OK, had another look and found some real favourites:

HOGS BACK T. E. A. (Trad. Eng. Ale) 16.9oz England <--Great. Go to the pub at lunch, tell your boss you just had Tea... 😛

MORLAND Old Speckled Hen Ale England <---YOU MUST TRY THIS!! I love OSH.

OLD PECULIER England <--- If you like dark/stout drinks

YOUNG'S Waggledance Honey Ale 16.9oz England <--great summer beer.
