I am finally planning to backup my p/c to an external Maxtor 200GB HD. Would like to know if there is anything out there that I can setup to run on a schedule. Preferrably just do an incremental....am particularly concerned about keeping my Outlook files intact during this process.

Freeware would be great...but wouldn't rule out paying for a reliable program.

Windows XP Home on a Dell Optiplex GX260.

Thanks all........

P.S. Is there anything native to WinXP that would accomplish this???

WinXP does have a backup utility, but I don't think you want to use it because it doesn't really let you find a specific file.

I use Acronis to image my system drive on a monthly basis and recommend it for full images. Syncback SE from 2Brightsparks (http://www.2brightsparks.com) works great for my data drive, though. It synchronizes directories very nicely, and I have it scheduled daily and it runs without a hitch. Since it keeps track of what changes, the daily backup only moves files that have changed, so for me it usually runs in under a minute or two. It can even keep versions of files and is very configurable. What I like best is that the backup isn't in some strange format - it's just an exact replica of my data drive. Storage is fairly cheap, and I like the simplicity. There's a free version, too. I can't remember what you lose with the free version, but the paid version has been well worth the $25 for me. Good luck!
