I'm ready to pull the trigger on two new servers.
Both will be outfitted with Raid 5 and 3 450GB drives.
This will take us from a 70GB server to a 900GB server.
One server will be our "main" server, apps/printing/storage, and the other will be running MSSQL 2005 and a vendor application. (both will be Windows Server 2003)
Currently the system I inheirted (sp?) backs up to USB external HDs... nothing is ever taken off-site.
We are not in compliance... lol
I need a solution to backup the new servers.
I was looking at tapes, we won't have much data at first, but I'm sure once they find the new space, they'll start using it. (I know people are currently storing alot on their local drives)
It's been 10+ years since the last time I had to setup a system like this.
I will have older server hardware available if I need a dedicated box to drive a tape machine, or software etc.
Any help, links to other articles, etc. would be most helpful.
