It sounds as if the OP is having a competitor. IMHO, it would be a good time to reassess the relationship and changes in the OP attitude as well as expectations.

I voted #3 so it's not like I actually have any authority on the mater. However I would like to think that I'm the type of person who doesn't "let" or "not let" my SO wear whatever they like. If it became an issue I would talk to them bout it and if it became obvious that there were relationship issues one would take it from there. The concept of not letting them wear something sounds hyper protective / controlling / aggressive (not me).

I don't really think watches are as, I don't know, relationshippy for guys though, are they? I'm not a watch guy.

Depends. Lots of girls / guys have close friends of the opposite gender and are completely platonic. Maybe they're childhood friends and they've never had a thing for each other. It would be like getting jewelry from a family member at that point /shrug

If it's not the above scenario or something like it, it might be a little suspect...
