My buddy Ryan is entered in a contest where the winner is able to pitch their startup company idea to PayPal, Google and other investors who could possibly fork over money if they like the idea.

Contest linkage can be found by clicking here...

They are down to the final six ideas, and all are brilliant, so I recommend checking them all out.

About the contest:

"The SFentrepreneur Challenge is the ultimate business pitch competition for entrepreneurs in the San Francisco Bay Area. The challenge is created to encourage entrepreneurs to broadcast their business, passion and ideas on the internet and in person."

His idea is MyVault, and details about the service can be found at the web site.

BTW, hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday evening ... mine has been brilliant so far!

So it's just an online backup service?
Is there anything else it does, or am I missing something?

Yeah I thought it was only an online back up service. Come to think of it, there's not much new in it:p

The only difference I see is the emotional slant to the way it's advertised. Instead of for business documents, etc it's for personal stuff.
I see the connection to keeping home inventory lists as well, maybe that's the selling point.
I read the blogs/news section, but it didn't give much info on what it actually is, just about disasters in general. All the links go back to the homepage or to an email for comments/suggestions, and the links under "blogroll" (I don't blog so I don't know what blogroll means) go to Wordpress sites for support.
(Edit: a blogroll is a list of blogs that the user likes/visits. I assume these are just the default Wordpress blogrolls.)
Maybe the OP can get us more info when he wakes up! :)

One more thing - I've seen alot of simple things with a small slant to them make millions, so you never know!
Edit:
Here's more information on what he's trying to do.
MyVault is an online home inventory management system that allows users to keep secure digital copies of important documents such as wills, trusts, birth certificates, etc.

To be honest, most people keep these in a safe deposit box, and I'm not sure if digital copies of these kinds of documents count for anything.
He wants to streamline claims processes and make it easer to use than existing systems, so that's nice, but I'm not sure how many people would actually use it, much less pay for the service.

Either way I hope it works out for him.
