okay I've got a ProStar 2200C laptop
P3 1ghz cpu, and the rest we need not worry about 😛

simple question (hopefully)

during startup the cpu fans spins up and is blowing over the heatsink - can tell by both the noise and airflow - once I've logged into windows the only time the cpu fan comes back on is when I start doing benches or something a bit intensive. In the meantime though Everest is reading the cpu temp hovering in the 60C range *yikes*

BIOS has no options for it - fan is 5v powered

any ideas???

that program didn't work

I've also tried speedfan, but to no avail either

isn't there something in windows I can do (registry or otherwise)
to get the fan to kick on?? as I type this message my cpu temp is @ 65C 🙁

I got one of those right here, and hot air blasts out of the grill on the right side of the machine. HOT hot air.

But my problem is a bit different... I need a new DVD/CD-ROM for this thing, where would I get one?

Gogeta, have you been able to find any BIOS Updates for this? I tried searching under the chipset and did not find much. I would imagine any BIOS updates would solve my problem and yours, if they address these issues for the motherboard. If not, I guess I have to throw this thing away, and it's a shame cos there is nothing else wrong with the machine.
