need apartment/share quickly - Winchester VA

Hi. The short version is I've been splitting a townhouse a few near work for 18 months. Last week he stopped me for a quick chat as I was heading out the door to say 'hey, nothing big, but I won't be renting any longer. If you can get out in the next 10 days I'll give you September's rent back. No hard feelings'*

I do make enough to rent a place on my own again, but I want to avoid that due to cost, and the probability of moving away in 6 months or less.

I've tried craigslist, roommates.com and roomster; any advice on a good way to find a room mate or room for rent?

Avoid CL room mates like the plague. That's really my only advice. Your best bet is to find someone in your circle of friends who needs a place to stay.
 
create a fake email account, answer the ad on his relisting. wont help you find a place, but should be a really awkward story to tell.

when i rented rooms from people i did it all on craigslist

Bender Bending Rodriguez - I'd like to avoid obvious conflict and move on; he's an ass but there's no advantage in breaking the thin veneer of civility. We both know he's lying at this point.

So...Craigslist is really the be-all, do-all hub for this sort of thing? No niche website that I missed out on?

If I had a circle of friends in this area, I wouldn't be on CL; I moved here for work. I'm trying to stick it out for another 3-6 months while things are percolating.

I knew he was lying when he told me; his statements didn't fit. I'd suspected he'd been off his meds for a while.....

When I re-upped a membership at one of those sites and noticed exact situation listed...I didn't mention it to him. Oddly enough, he's been hard to find lately.

Nothing to be gained by direct confrontation, other than complications.
 
Where are you working in Winchester? Can't think of much that people would move for. You missed the prime renting season with all of the Shenandoah kids coming back. I'll ask around. You aren't a weirdo or anything, right?
