Need answer QUICK - Crucial PC2100 - how far can it go easily?

try it. if it don't work reset your bios. you can overvolt to 2.6 or 2.7 without much of a prob

i bought 2 x 256MB PC2100 in June 2002.
They reach 166MHz CL2 (6/3/3) pretty easy at default voltage 😀
They've got a bit more in them tho.....(5/2/2) is possible with a bit more voltage.

Oh it can hit 133 easily 😛

The answer to your question depends on an aweful lot of factors:
Voltage
Cooling
Other RAM
CPU
Timing
etc etc

What do you base your assertion on?

I have built four systems with ONLY Crucial ram, both 256 and 512mb sticks and they all run flawlessly at aggressive memory timings.

Did you build those systems with nForce2 boards, MichaelD? It is very widely-known that nForce2 boards and Crucial RAM do not mix well.

I need a new mobo and i was probably going to get an nForce2...I have crucial ram. Do i need to change my mind on chipsets?

With lax timings, I got 163 MHz out of Crucial PC2100 256 MB. That was with CAS 2.5 too.

MichaelD, I believe that was on the PC2700 512 MB Crucial having problems with nForce 2 chipsets. Take a gander at the mother board forums. There is a known problem at the time. Has it been resolved.... don't know.

yes, crucial PC2100 @ 166MHz strangely works fine for me on a MSI nforce 2

Well I decided to ditch the idea of going to 2700 speeds so instead I just got an 8RDA+ 512MB (1DIMM) Corsair XMS combo and it's kicking ass. I OCd a 1700+ TBred B to 166x10 at 1.6v and it's in sync with the memory.
Solid as rock. I did spend a bit more money for the Corsair XMS LLPT memory though...too bad the system ain't dead silent anymore. Time to come up with some new ways to quiet this baby down...

On my Asus A7N8X non-deluxe, I have three Crucial 256mb PC2100 that will each run at 175 or a little better - currently running a pair of them at 166 without problems, all at 6,3,3,2.5. Maybe its the relaxed timings................

I have a stick of 256 PC2100 in my KT3 Ultra 2 mobo running perfectly at 166 2.5,2,2,5 T1 voltage of 2.7 though. It also has another stick of crucial PC2700 along side it though.
