Then my school is not. Except for the fact that I have the door code, but I'd bascially be breaking in in the middle of the night. All the building doors get locked, except one that they always forget.

Well, do you have the alarm code? 😛

Yeah the EE building here has keycard access to some labs 24x7 using our ID cards. meh.
So what frequencies are you designing your power amplifier for? it'll make a huge difference on what kind of scope you need. If it's for something in the RF spectrum, you will need a network analyzer and AFAIK those run $20k+. If it's for something low freq like a superhet FM radio or something you could get away with something pretty cheap.

You could probably score an old analog scope really cheap, but really who wants to deal with those anyways. IIRC, these are the most common scopes we have here
Text and they are quite nice though I'd imagine they're expensive too. If you go digital make sure it has all the functions you want out of it. FFT functionality is pretty great.

Yeah, but with a class D amplifier, you need a triangle wave that is 3 to (preferably) 6 or more times the frequency you're amplifiying.

We have a couple similar to those in our Control Systems lab, IMO, they are sweet, but the junior lab has more primitive analog tektronics 2-ch ones.

🙁 That sucks. We only used analog scopes briefly in our introductory EE measurements lab and we've been using digital scopes since then. Analog scopes are a huge pain in the ass to work with, and more importantly you can save your results and get printouts with digital scopes.

We are acquiring a tek scope at work. Its a DPO5000series. they have builtin cd burners, windows2000, touch screen... So freaking amazing. When i start my graduate degree in EE, the lab scopes will feel so inadequate.
