Yeah the EE building here has keycard access to some labs 24x7 using our ID cards. meh.
So what frequencies are you designing your power amplifier for? it'll make a huge difference on what kind of scope you need. If it's for something in the RF spectrum, you will need a network analyzer and AFAIK know those run $20k+. If it's for something low freq like a superhet FM radio or something you could get away with something pretty cheap.
You could probably score an old analog scope really cheap, but really who wants to deal with those anyways. IIRC, these are the most common scopes we have here
Text and they are quite nice though I'd imagine they're expensive too. If you go digital make sure it has all the functions you want out of it. FFT functionality is pretty great.
