Need an honest opinion...on web site design/organization.

FOr the site http://www.3dvelocity.com , if you see his text is all over the place..

I talked to this guy..i feel so bad..he doesn't receive a penny for the site. He is like 40 years old..with his wife..working so hard while geting loads of hits..

SO the question, do people really care about the design, if its organized?

or just the content?

if he's getting lots of hits though, must mean that people dont care about that too much, as long as the info is good

he should also come up with simpler design overall. and the background would be better if those dots aren't there.

personally i don't think design makes a huge difference on what makes a site popular or not, but there needs to be good organization of the site itself along with a good knowledge of html, javascript, databasing, and maybe actionscript to make a good site that also loads quickly, people are pretty impatient about page loads, and the average person gives up after 5sec if they don't see anything that interests them.

Too much happening. Too much contrast.
Align the page, the header should come out farther to acommodate the width of the rest of your windows.
Use margins/guides to line everything up, each box is off slightly.
Take the background textures out of the navigational bars.

Blue is my favourite colour... but how about a little less?

Almost everything is about content... but once good content is established, theres not much excuse not to have a good feeling design.
